Wasabi is a very athletic stallion with a trainable mind. We are expecting his first foal crop this year, 2009, and expect them to be good looking foals with his can do attitude. Wasabi is suitable for breeding campdrafters, polo & polocrosses, timed eventers, rodeo and just good looking riding horses.
A big solid and well muscled, well bred stallion, carrying the blood of Eddies Barnes Imp, King Fritz USA, Paula Gay USA and Rare Chex Imp. Wasabi has allot of black breeding on both sides and is being tested for the black/red factor and also agouti. We are hoping he is homozygous for black (EE) so that he always produces black based foals.
Wasabis colour test results:
Red/Black Factor: Ee ~ Heterozygous. Horse is black based but carries a recessive copy of the Red gene.
The colour of horses legs are controlled by E and e locus allels. E is for black legs and e is for red legs. One E will over ride andy e, so any horse with an E (capital) will have black legs unless another modifying gene like double cream makes them white.
Agouti: aa ~ Non-Agouti. If horse is black based (E), black pigment will be evenly distributed.
The colour of a horses body is partially controlled by the A and a locus as well as the E/e. And A means red/brown body, and an a means that their colour will match their legs in colour if their is no modifying genes. The A is dominant, so any horse with an A will have a red/brown based body..Not black or blue. Sire
